From One Finger Lakes Family to Another

Hey there! We’re thrilled to share our family's history with you. Our story begins in 1942, when our great-grandfather, Byron Rosenbloom, founded the Jay Furniture Company in Athens, PA. Fast forward to 1967, and you'll find our father, Dave Rosenbloom, opening Jay Carpet Center, Inc. right across the street. Over the years, we expanded with a large warehouse in Athens in 1978. Of course, like any good story, we've had our fair share of challenges. We faced a flood in 1970, a fire in 1992, and another in 2011. But with resilience and determination, we rebuilt each time and kept going strong!

In 1996, we opened a second location in Horseheads, NY, welcoming our family’s next generation with Dave's son, Jay, as part owner. That was also when we became part of Carpet One. Many family members have worked with us, including Dave's mother, Adelaide, his wife, Laura, and his daughter, Jill, making it a trustworthy family business. Although we closed our Athens location in January 2024 due to economic changes, our commitment to serving our community remains unwavering. We’re proud of our heritage and excited for the future.
